The Joy of the Deadline
It was August 4, six weeks before the anticipated opening of the new dorm and the arrival of our students on September 13. That Monday morning, the concrete crew was preparing new sidewalks. Electricians were finishing interior panels, and bricklayers were completing the brickwork. Cabinet makers were installing kitchens, tilers continued their work, epoxy specialists were prepping bathroom floors, and two RBC students were installing stair railings. I’m likely forgetting someone—it was a very active job site.
I recently asked our jobsite superintendent if we’re on track to finish on time. He smiled and said, “We plan to finish our punch list on September 12th.”
Each day feels like a high-wire act as we hope the work continues smoothly. Somehow, it all feels exhilarating. The entire dorm project has been a walk of faith, with God going before us and graciously providing for our needs in ways we couldn’t have imagined. It is only fitting that we are once again brought to our knees, trusting God to provide the space we need for our students this fall.
We are grateful for your prayers as we prepare to welcome another cohort of Kingdom workers!
